In the video Hypnotherapists Nick and Andrea both demonstrate a hypnotic induction.

The form of hypnotic induction used by therapist Nick (time 1:10 to 2:15) is used by some therapists and is termed an instant/shock induction – because it relies on it coming as a complete surprise/shock to the client.

However this form of Hypnotic induction can lead to some clients feeling uncomfortable and dissatisfied/disappointed with their experience of hypnotherapy (as acknowledged by the presenter, Charlotte Gay) - the difficulty here for some clients being that most therapists using such an ‘instant/shock induction’ will not give their client any form of advance warning of what the therapist is about to do.

However hypnotherapist Andrea (time 4:15 onwards), uses a hypnotic induction that, for the client, is more comfortable, relaxing, and enjoyable.
